Assassin's Creed Origins

Assassin's Creed Origins is set in ancient Egypt which connects with the word relic that I want to research because it focuses on the. Origins received positive reviews from critics, who praised the story, characters, voice acting, reworked gameplay-systems, immersive world of Egypt, 'historical accuracy' and the visuals that were all offered by the game.

Gameplay

Assassin's Creed Origins is an action-adventure stealth game played from a third-person perspective. Players complete quests—linear scenarios with set objectives—to progress through the story, earn experience points, and acquire new skills. Outside of quests, the player can freely roam the open world environment on foot, horseback, camel-back, horse-drawn vehicles or boat to explore locations, complete optional side-quests and unlock weapons and equipment.

Setting

The player takes on the role of a Medjay named Bayek and his wife Aya, as they work to protect the people of the Ptolemaic Kingdom during a time of widespread upheaval: the Pharaoh, Ptolemy XIII, struggles to maintain his rule while harbouring ambitions of expanding his kingdom; his sister, the recently deposed Cleopatra, begins marshalling loyalist forces to launch a counter-coup against Ptolemy; and frequent incursions into the Kingdom by the Roman Republic under the command of Julius Caesar led to fears of an imminent invasion. Bayek's role as a Medjay brings him and Aya into contact with the secretive forces manipulating these events and into becoming the first Assassins.

Portal 1 & 2

Portal_2_Official_Logo.png

Portal 2 is a first-person puzzle-platform video game developed by Valve Corporation.

Like the original Portal (2007), players solve puzzles by placing portals and teleporting between them. Portal 2 adds features including tractor beams, lasers, light bridges, and paint-like gels that alter player movement or allow portals to be placed on any surface. In the single-player campaign, players control Chell, who navigates the dilapidated Aperture Science Enrichment Center during its reconstruction by the supercomputer GLaDOS.

Portal 2 challenges the player to use teleportation to traverse obstacle courses. The player's speed does not change upon passing through portals. In this example, the vertical velocity of the falling character is converted into horizontal velocity by the portal.

Handheld Portal Device. The Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device (also known as the Portal Gun) is the experimental tool designed to place two portals that objects can pass through.

Portal-2-007.jpg

I want to do something that is close to portal but it's not portal so I don't want to have a portal gun that makes portals. I want something that makes portals but it not a gun of any sort maybe a sword that then the player uses it it makes portals like rips the world and makes small passage ways between realities. Also Portal focuses on the puzzles that the player needs to complete to get closer to the supercomputer GLaDOS that is controlling everything in Aperture Science.

220px-Portal_2_paint.jpg

Portal 2 features gels that impart special properties to surfaces or objects they touch. Here, blue Repulsion Gel causes the painted turrets to bounce off any surface.

Limbo & Inside

header_586x192.jpg

The game is presented in black-and-white tones, using lighting, film grain effects and minimal ambient sounds to create an eerie atmosphere often associated with the horror genre. The primary character in Limbo is a nameless boy, who awakens in the middle of a forest on the "edge of hell" (the game's title is taken from the Latin limbus, meaning "edge"). In which he encounters a giant spider, who tries to kill him. After using a trap to cut off the sharp points on half of the spider's legs, it retreats further into the forest, and the boy is allowed to pass. However, he is later caught in webs and spun into a cocoon. After breaking free from the threads that attached him to the roof, he is forced to hop and eventually gets them off. After a while seeking his missing sister, he encounters only a few human characters who either attack him, run away, or are dead/dying. At one point during his journey, he encounters a female character, whom he thinks might be his sister but is prevented from reaching her. The forest eventually gives way to a crumbling city environment. On completion of the final puzzle, the boy is thrown through a pane of glass and back into the forest. After he wakes up and recovers from the pain and shock, he walks a short distance until he again encounters a girl, who, upon his approach, stands up, startled. At this point, the game abruptly ends.

The dark theme that it in place. With both games is something I want to succeed in my Concept because I want to use the same dark them as Inside the mystery part of it that the player does not know what is coming from the shadows. It is mainly dark which gives it that horror style but also adventure and mystery which a single player game needs but the most important thing in a single player game is the story which is nicely presented in both games because it is so dark that the story does not get revealed straight away. The player does actually have to complete the whole game to get every reference and story element on the game and I think that the dark and gloomy atmosphere helps with that revealing the story step by step.

Concept art in games

Concept art moodboard.JPG

How is concept art used in video games

The main goal of concept art is to convey a visual representation of a design, idea, and/or mood for use in films, video games, animation, or comic books before it is put into the final product. In other words, it aims to convey the overall design vision rather than specify everything in exact terms right at the start.

I will be giving my option on the images below and how I feel about them.

visceral_games_04.jpg

This image gives me the impression of a character from Dead space. This is because of the mask that looks very futuristic and looks close to the mask of the main character in dead space. Also, the colors of the character are futuristic with the bright blue on the mask which works as lights for the character. Something that I don’t like about the drawing is that the color of the body seems a bit dull compared to the bright blue used on the mask and this could be changed easily to get a better outcome in the end in my opinion. Overall I like the in-depth details of the character like the pipes and the small parts of metal that construct the whole body and also the mask which looks like a horn of a rhino which might suggest that the character is more aggressive in some occasions like combat.

ben-zhang-sombra-character-concept.jpg

This is a character from Overwatch called Sombra and her overall style seems very futuristic and modern. Starting from the top we can see that she is half human half machine with a device strapped to the back of her head which might suggest that she uses this to control herself and other characters in the game. Also, the whole character is filled with different shades of purple starting from dark purple right up to bright purple in her hands and legs. Overall she seems very robotic in her style with lots of her body parts being replaced with mechanical parts to become a computer. I do like the style of the character but I will not use this as an example from my final character because she did not give me any inspiration on how to change my character.

assassins-creed-origins-wallpaper-4.jpg

This link shows some of the concept art that went into assassins creed origins. This kind of work is very professional and very well drawn. This kind of concept art helps the concept artist and the 3D modeler to get the idea of the character that is being visualized by the artist. This will also help the 3D modeler get the overall style of the character and his or hers personality. Overall I really like this kind of art because It's very realistic and really shows of the character in his best light.

6951e7ef212006f0b71e964304425a0f_the-shi

I really like this concept art because It shows the character with different pieces of armor which shows of the other styles that the character would wear in the game. It also shows of the other styles for the weapons that the character would use. As can be seen by the image the character seems to use different weapons so maybe there is a leveling system that unlocks the different weapons that are available in the game. This kind of concept art has much more details than I am planning to make mine because mine will show of the character with different hoods that he can wear with the animation that is planned further on during the project also mine will not show of the weapons like this concept which is very well drawn and very complex with its figure and the weapons around the character.

Cyberpunk2077_I_make_my_own_rules_RGB-EN

This concept art is from cyberpunk 2077 and it really looks cool this was a concept that came out sometime ago. I really like the style that this shot shows because the overall scene looks to be filled with characters that might be intractable in the game when it comes out this is one of the darker concept arts for this game because most of it has a lot of neon colours like bright blues and pinks while this scene has a darker tone that uses more dark colours like browns and dark reds which shows that this might be a not so well of area of the map which will be in the game. It also looks like a restaurant or a bar that is filled with drunken people that are just clinging to life while some live in the neon apartments that cover the map beyond this place.

3382784_orig-825x510.jpg

This kind of concept art is again different than the one before which showed the streets of cyberpunk 2077 which is totally a different genre. Now I am looking at a different concept with more of a nature feeling. This images shows a beast that looks like it has a camouflage that make it easier for it to hunt I might be wrong but it seems to be an aggressive beast that hunts innocent animals and humans. I don't know which game this is from but it seems to be a game that would be an open world game which would have different beasts that live in different regions of the map. I like this concept because of how natural it seems to be because it a way it looks peaceful with the green moss and trees in the background and the overall green colour which is mostly positive but it has something about it which gives me the feeling of danger because of the beast that lays under the moss and dirt.

Cyberpunk-2077-scenes.png

This is again a concept from Cyberpunk 2077 which I really like because of the colour that are very bright and bold with the light oranges and the blues in the background. If I was to do an environment concept I would love to do a futuristic city with bright neon colours that really showoff the modern era like in Cyberpunk. My chararacter that I am working shows some modern aspects like the futurist masks and the overall story that I made is very sci fi ish with the characters like the messengers and the void which is related to space and fantasy.

james-paick-epic-10122015-orion-final-co

This environment art is very fantasy based with large mushrooms and a massive gate that is probably locking away a secret that can not be seen by anybody or it is a fort that is set in the mountains. I like this concept because it is based on a fantasy place that only the creator will know entirely and it secrets that are hidden in the game. This kind of concept art so some fun to look at because you can start to feel the setting of the game with the big mushrooms hanging over your character and you running toward the gate. It just cool look at and it certainly shows off the setting of the game.
